Hi, I'm Lyle. Some know me as Milo. This is my blog.
My story begins in Norway House, Manitoba. I can’t remember much about my early life, but I do remember my last few days. I was having a pee, which is what I do pretty much all day long, when suddenly I was attacked and mauled.
Human
here: Lyle loves to pee. His morning
routine is as follows: Sleep in late, wake up sl-oooo-wwwww-ly, engage in two or three
downward dogs, trot outside, pee on the barbecue. On the plus side our grills have taken on a
certain je ne sais quoi flavour.
The humes think it was other dogs that hurt
me, but I can’t remember. It was awful. I was in a lot of pain for days. Thankfully I
blacked in and out so I can’t remember the mauling. I remember the scent of
fear though. It still sends uncontrollable shivers down my spine and out my
tail. That’s why I do full-body-shake
like crazy every few minutes. It helps
rid my body of the trauma and keeps me calm.
It was hard to move because my wounds were
big and deep. I was scared. Then a
miracle happened. Some wonderful humes
found me and rescued me. They took me to
a big building where there was a terrifying machine like a gigantic metal bird. I was put in a cage thing and then put into
the scary bird. It was dark. I was terrified.
These pictures were taken several weeks after the emergency surgery. |
My next memory were waking up in a
building in a very different place.
Hume here again... Lyle speaks of the St. Norbert Veterinary Clinic in Winnipeg.
I was surrounded by really nice humans. They didn’t hurt me. It took a long time at the
vet’s before I was allowed to leave.
From there I went to a nice lady’s house and she treated me so
well! I never knew that humans could be
so kind!
Once my wounds started to get
better, I moved in with Melissa and Tom.
Now that was some kinda livin’!!
They had other dogs to play with and they taught me not to be so
afraid! When my cuts got better, and I
was feeling up to it, my long matted hair got cut! It turned out that I was pretty cute under
all that mess! I got to live with Melissa and Tom for about 6 weeks, and they
even let me sleep in their bed. I went
to doggy day care so I could play with other dogs, and run and run and
run!
Then one day, in December, Melissa and Tom
took me to meet a couple of new humans.
Jen and Mike. They were pretty
lonely I guess because they didn’t even have one dog!! But they had Lou, the cat! Melissa thought that maybe I wouldn’t like cats,
but that’s about the only thing she got wrong about me. I LOVE cats!
Me and Lou hit it off right
away. He told me all about his rules on
how I had to behave around him, and I said
"I'm good with that, boss".
About a week later, I moved in with Jen and
Mike and Lou, and we are now a family. We sleep four in a bed, most nights (unless Lou's in a snit and sleeps on the couch!).
Right now I'm travelling to Poofoundland with my humans. I'll be posting my travel adventures on my blog. Be sure to come on back.
